I am a well-seasoned pocket drummer experienced in roots rock, blues, classic soul\/R&B, rock-a-billy and all flavors of country (honky-tonk, alt, contemporary and even bluegrass).<\/p>\n

I live in Northern Virginia a 15 minute drive to Washington, DC, and I am road warrior who won’t hesitate to travel for a gig. If you are looking for a drummer please connect with me. I am proudly that guy who has thousands invested in gear, who has driven hundreds of miles for a gig, after investing time and money in promotion, all for a $100 cut. Playing in bands that I call personally successful, I have ‘opened’ for Luther Allison, the Romantics, Danny Gatton, Little River Band, Johnny Winter, and played a side-stage at a Brooks and Dunn\/Reba McEntire stadium show. I have played weekly to 100’s who came to church to give thanks. I have played a few gigs supported by a road crew, have been on some big stages, but most notably \u2013 played countless gigs that the payoff was in hanging with friends both on stage and off. All on the road to something big which was realized in deep friendships, a supportive wife, awesome daughters and now grandchildren!<\/p>\n

Growing up in Columbus, WI, 25 miles north of Madison, during the late ’70s while still in High School, I played mostly original rock with guys that were already road worn. I became an early adopter of punk and new wave. Gigging around the Madison region during the era when the regional favorite Cheap Trick had just recorded Live at Budokan, members of the band Garbage played together in Spooner, and well before now local hero Butch Vig recorded Never Mind for Nirvana after the band recorded with Butch at Smart Studio in Madison when on a van tour.<\/p>\n

Moving to Chicago in 1980 I was grateful to be accepted by a very welcoming musician fraternity, I played mostly rock clubs that include the West End, Single File, Cubby Bear Lounge and countless others. The players I came up with and who mentored the ‘skinny white boy from Wisconsin’ created opportunities for me to play with members and past members of some of the best rock and blues bands in town at that time \u2013 Son Seals, Lonnie Brooks, Koko Taylor, Byther Smith, the Jerks, Loose Lips, Ooze Magazine, The Lathan Brothers, Ministry, Paul Butterfield, Elvin Bishop, Chaka Khan and many more. In addition to playing forever evolving rock, my friends made sure I could play the blues before I left town. During this period of my life, I didn’t know how connected to Chicago music royalty I was. I didn\u2019t realize having someone like Paul Butterfield, who spent a weekend at ‘the house’, wasn\u2019t just another jam session experience.<\/p>\n

Moving to the Washington, DC region in the late 80’s, I started out in original rock bands playing the Grog and Tankard, Club Soda and other clubs that were part of that circuit. My fun fact is that I told Dave Grohl he couldn\u2019t sit-in with my band after the host of the house party I was playing at was trying to kick him out for being too young. Over the past 20+ years I have spent time playing in classic soul\/R&B groups (Eddie Becker Band, LC and the Magic Touch, Jr. Cline and the Recliners, the Oz Revue, and now the Fabulous Dialtones), playing in many iterations of those bands, with mostly the same awesome friends and musicians.
